My work is an exploration of my heritage and a biographical analysis, using techniques found in historic textiles and gained through investigation and experimentation. I construct narratives that are a combination of mythology and my own history, creating representations of persons, ideas, and nature. My pieces are often remembrance art, using the process of creation as an act of meditation and sometimes catharsis. I do not directly represent a person or event, but instead the emotions and meaning triggered by memory. Architecture is very important, and comes into play through the structure of the weaving, the form of the finished piece, and the situation of the installation. Through the tactile nature and attention to craftsmanship important to these textile pieces, I seek to engage and elicit memories.
